Sarasvati Devi, eRYT500, CYT1000

In 1964, Sarasvati Devi discovered a book of yoga at the local library and immediately took it home to begin practicing. Soon after, yoga became part of her daily life. Since that time, over 40 years ago, Sara has studied and practiced yoga with some of the world’s most well-known and knowledgeable teachers. She has practiced yoga with: Swami Bua, Doug Swenson, Vaz Rogbeck, Dr. Ann Harmon, Gary Kraftsow, and Nischala Joy Devi. Sara has completed numerous workshops with Rodney Yee, Bryan Kest, was certified by Sonya Sumar as a practitioner of “Yoga for the Special Child,” and studied Ashtanga with David Williams, David Swenson,  Manju Jois, and Shri K. Pattabhi Jois.

When asked why she has practiced yoga for so many years and traveled so far to study with so many people, Sara will simply tell you, “I love yoga.” Furthermore, she says, “Yoga is a system to liberate the mind, body and spirit.” Sara specializes in powerful Asana practices and loves to stand on her head.

Sara is now the Director of Prana Vinyasa Yoga and Prana Vinyasa® Radiant Transitions Yoga Teacher Education Programs. For the past ten years, Sara has focused her energies teaching future yoga teachers and developing yoga programs for special populations. The work she has done for children with Autism received significant news coverage in 2003, and parents from around the Tampa Bay area have brought their children to see Sara and benefit from her expertise ever since. Sara, along with the help of Vaz Rogbeck developed a special program of “Yoga for Seniors,” and in doing so, introduced many older adults to the mental, physical and emotional benefits of a daily yoga practice.
